Established by Ashley Cowan and Darren Emerson, East City Films is a pioneer in creating purpose-driven content, including virtual reality documentaries, 360° videos, augmented reality experiences, brand films, live events, and music videos. We take pride in being recognized as the most innovative VR production company in London. Our goal is to engage audiences with significant narratives, whether through branded content for The Guardian, an AR application for the British Heart Foundation, a multi-camera production at the Exit Festival, or a VR documentary exploring the UK's detention system. We collaborate with musicians, brands, media entities, agencies, charities, and broadcasters, while also producing our own documentaries. As leading VR documentary producers in Europe, we create experiences centered on social justice issues. Many of our VR films, often directed by co-founder Darren Emerson, have been showcased at prestigious film festivals worldwide, including Cannes, Raindance, IDFA, Sheffield Doc Fest, Venice, and Tribeca, receiving accolades from both audiences and critics. We are passionate storytellers who travel globally to discover inspiring people and places. Our documentary work spans Nigeria, Portugal, and India, and we've developed commercials for Visit Malta and Macallan, as well as 360° video content for ITV and San Miguel. We've captured performances from artists like Adele and Ed Sheeran and produced online content for brands like Coca-Cola, Lexus, and Smirnoff.
