What safety consulting firms deliver on a typical engagement

Most work starts with a gap assessment: the consultant walks the site, reviews injury logs, existing policies and training records, and lists where the company falls short of OSHA, provincial or client requirements. From there the deliverables are a written safety and health program, job hazard analyses for key tasks, lockout and confined space procedures where they apply, an emergency action plan and a training matrix by role.

Engagements come in three shapes. A one-off project produces the program and a set of audits. A prequalification service builds and uploads the documents a contractor needs to pass ISNetworld, Avetta or a similar platform, then answers the reviewer's follow-up questions. A retainer, sometimes called an outsourced safety director, adds monthly site inspections, incident investigations, new-hire orientation and help when an inspector arrives.
