Gilbert's journey into photography, originally rooted in marketing and studio art, began unexpectedly with capturing everyday items. During a 60-day university trip across Eastern and Central Europe, armed with a simple point-and-shoot camera, he was deeply influenced by the historical and artistic portrayals of people he encountered in museums. This experience ignited his passion for portraiture. Now based in Toronto, Gilbert specializes in family portraits, headshots, newborns, and milestone events, emphasizing a philosophy that treats each portrait with the careful precision of fine art. He values the fusion of expression, lighting, composition, and trust to craft authentic, enduring images and cherishes the collaborations with clients who've shared their stories through his lens.
