Wiki Publishers Online

The Wikimedia Foundation, the nonprofit behind Wikipedia, was recently dismayed to discover that The North Face and its advertising agency, Leo Burnett Tailor Made, manipulated Wikipedia's images without permission in a marketing stunt. Despite The North Face's commitment to outdoor preservation since 1966, their claim of collaborating with Wikipedia was false; their actions were more akin to defacing public property. Wikipedia thrives on the dedication of volunteers who have built over 50 million articles with a commitment to neutral, fact-based knowledge. This unauthorized commercial exploitation undermines public trust and the mission of Wikipedia. Volunteers promptly removed The North Face's images and are ensuring content neutrality. The Wikimedia Foundation encourages companies to engage ethically with Wikipedia, supporting its mission to freely share knowledge.
