ASMFC.org website redesign
Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission
We collaborated with the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission to transform their website into a contemporary, scalable publishing platform. ASMFC oversees fisheries management across 15 Atlantic coast states, generating intricate scientific, regulatory, and policy-related content for various audiences. The challenge was not only visual but also structural. The old site struggled with navigation, making it hard to access dense information, key resources, and manage content efficiently across different programs, species, and stakeholders. We treated the project as a complete system overhaul. Using our Amplify framework, we constructed a modular WordPress platform aimed at supporting long-term growth. We reorganized content based on essential user needs, implemented flexible content types for species, programs, and news, and developed a more user-friendly navigation system to enhance access to vital information. Usability was a primary focus. The new platform simplifies the process for scientists, policymakers, and the public to find pertinent data, monitor fisheries management activities, and keep up with emerging issues. We also created tools to streamline internal publishing processes, enabling ASMFC's team to manage and update content more effectively. The outcome is a robust, accessible platform that clarifies complex, multi-state fisheries data, resulting in a more navigable experience—furthering ASMFC’s mission for science-driven, cooperative management of Atlantic coastal resources.
