IoT- ecosystem hansgrohe home
UMWERK is creating an IoT ecosystem for Hansgrohe's new digital offerings, centered around a cloud backend utilizing AWS IoT Core. The goal is to connect the company’s own sensors and actuators with various third-party devices through IoT technology, allowing them to interact seamlessly. Additionally, services for user management, device administration, and analysis of telemetry data will be integrated. The Hansgrohe Home app, available for both iOS and Android, serves as a key part of the digital strategy, providing users with standardized access to the range of digital products.
The primary challenge was to transcend conventional solutions and advance Hansgrohe's transformation. This involved creating an efficient communication system for a diverse array of devices, implementing IT security standards, and ensuring global availability and performance. The objective was to offer an innovative, customized shower experience that goes beyond typical smart home solutions.
To address these high demands, an agile project was initiated using the Scrum methodology, focusing on the user and their needs throughout product development. UMWERK's experts crafted a tailored solution that included a cloud backend, mobile applications, and embedded software for digital control devices, with real-time communication facilitated by the AWS IoT platform. The cloud-based Hansgrohe Home app unifies various device types via Wi-Fi and incorporates select external smart home products.
As a result, Hansgrohe is now able to deliver a unique, personalized smart home experience for users, integrate various devices and third-party products into a cohesive ecosystem, maintain global availability and system performance, and uphold IT security standards to safeguard user data and device interactions.
