Ensuring Client has Billable Revenue

Unknown

**The Problem** Molly, a Community Manager at a national coworking firm in Pittsburgh, faced an issue with the E-Mon energy monitoring software, which she couldn’t use to track and invoice a tenant's utility usage that typically generated over $4,000.00 in monthly revenue. After spending an hour on the phone with E-Mon's customer support without any success, she found herself unable to obtain invoices for the tenant. Concerned about potentially losing out on this income, Mitchell needed a swift solution. **The Solution** A Project Manager from the coworking company suggested that Mitchell contact TechNoir Solutions to investigate a possible IP/Network issue. Initially, the TechNoir remote support technician thought the problem might be linked to the computer's internet connection rather than the software itself and requested that Mitchell send a video of the workstation using the E-Mon program. After carefully reviewing the video and eliminating other possibilities, the technician concluded that the minicomputer didn’t have an antenna to connect to the internet from the basement. They provided a link for Mitchell to purchase the necessary antenna, and once it was delivered, she was able to attach it to the computer running the E-Mon software. This straightforward fix worked immediately, allowing Mitchell to create and send the invoice to the tenant. **The Outcome** “Just like that, my energy monitoring device and its software were operational again, enabling me to generate an invoice for over $5,000.00 in energy usage that would have otherwise been an operational expense for our organization,” Mitchell said. “This was such a relief. TechNoir consistently impresses me, especially since they provide remote assistance for our center in Pittsburgh!”

Cloud-based File Server Replaces VPN

Unknown

**The Problem** Innovative law firms nationwide have transitioned from on-premises file servers to cloud-based solutions to enhance the productivity of attorneys now working remotely. **The Approach** TechNoir's team conducted thorough research to gather detailed insights about how the firm utilizes its data. Through conversations with partners and associates about their experiences working in and out of the office, our team discovered that using the VPN to access the file server consistently caused frustration. Additionally, it was crucial to have the ability to share certain files and folders while maintaining privacy. The VPN and internet speed were only intended for occasional access and did not change, creating a bottleneck when multiple users attempted to use the VPN simultaneously. **The Solution** Based on our findings, we found that most attorneys relied on the VPN to connect to the file server. TechNoir Solutions determined that a secure cloud-based file server, named ShareSync, would be an ideal solution. ShareSync allows all the file folders utilized by the attorneys to be stored on their computers, automatically syncing with the cloud whenever they are online. The added benefits were quite attractive: - The law firm could eliminate the office file server. - Costs related to hardware, licensing, and maintenance were removed. - The cloud system provided automated backups for all files. - Accidental deletion was prevented, as copies of all files were retained in the cloud. - Sharing files or sensitive information became easy by sending an email link to the intended recipient. - Local copies of files made them accessible without the need for internet. - There was no need for VPN software or the associated frustrations. The installation process was straightforward; a brief 30-minute session, either in person or remotely, was all that was required to set an attorney up on ShareSync. This included software installation and guidance on best practices for using the new system.

Managed IT Services for School Network

Primrose Schools

TechNoir Solutions offers managed IT services to a network of pre-schools and their management company, Primrose. Primrose required comprehensive oversight of their IT services and sought to upgrade the IT infrastructure across all locations with a unified technology stack. TechNoir Solutions oversees each school’s hardware, software, and cybersecurity requirements. In addition to IT management, they offer assistance with access control, low voltage cabling, and digital signage. The Primrose group acquired several existing franchises from individual owners, each with its own disparate IT systems. They aimed to standardize technology across locations to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and reliability. Following a 90-Day Plan, TechNoir Solutions established a uniform process for overhauling the IT systems for this Primrose group. On-site evaluations by the TechNoir team assessed the existing infrastructure's capabilities, allowing them to identify gaps between the current state and the desired goals. A Scope of Work was created to address these gaps, involving new equipment, revised processes, and implementation efforts. Once approved, the TechNoir team commenced the project as each new location joined the portfolio. When finished, each site had an identical IT setup, featuring cloud-enabled storage for file sharing among all locations. The introduction of reliable new equipment has doubled productivity, leading to greater staffing efficiencies.
