T.C. Johnston obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1996. He was admitted to the California Bar in June 1997. In 1999, Johnston earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) with a focus on business and corporate law from the University of San Diego. He started his legal career as a clerk at a small law firm in 1994 and continued there as an attorney after passing the bar, quickly expanding the practice to encompass cases related to emerging technologies and intellectual property. In 2005, he established his own firm, concentrating on innovative legal issues. Johnston has led legal battles against major corporations concerning unfair business and advertising practices, taking on large law firms, and successfully resolving a federal class action lawsuit related to significant layoffs stemming from a dotcom crash. He has secured injunctive relief for clients in various unique situations and has effectively defended against unusual cases. Johnston has also served as intellectual property counsel for a well-known musician's estate and represented a diverse range of online businesses, from startups to established companies.
