Booking & Loyalty App for Portuguese Barbershop
Barba Ruiva is a barbershop located in Nazaré along the Portuguese coast, catering to a loyal clientele and experiencing an influx of tourists during the surfing season. Initially, appointments were organized through WhatsApp and a physical planner, while payment tracking was done with a notepad. Customer loyalty was solely in the owner’s mind, and staff had to navigate three different languages on a daily basis. We conducted two weeks of paid research on-site, observing the actual flow of appointments. The outcome is a tailored mobile app for both iOS and Android, fully localized in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. The technology stack includes React Native with Expo for deployment, Supabase for the backend, and a multi-tenant Postgres schema built from the beginning to enable the same product to serve multiple barbershops in the future. The app features calendar booking with conflict management, client records with history, three payment options with daily balance checks, a points-based loyalty program with tiered rewards, in-app marketing campaigns with scheduling and expiration capabilities, and a reporting dashboard covering income, vouchers, and discounts. As of May 2026, following approximately 50 development cycles, the app is fully equipped with features and is undergoing final testing on the owner’s iPhone, prior to its public release. The owner now starts each day using the app instead of a paper ledger, and the architecture is ready to accommodate the next barbershop without requiring any rebuild.
