SickKids Community Rally

The SickKids Foundation successfully executed the "SickKids VS" campaign in mainstream media. However, given the unique characteristics of the Chinese community, including demographics, distinct channels, and cultural differences, a straightforward translation of the original campaign would not be effective. In our strategy to connect with our target audience of young Chinese families, we facilitated a partnership between SickKids and local Chinese brands and businesses to promote the cause. We created six limited-edition SickKids teddy bears, each with uplifting messages on the bear's hoodies, representing real stories of little patients from the Chinese community. These bears could be collected during fundraising events held by partner businesses throughout September, thereby raising funds and attracting customers to local shops. We tailored the SickKids VS campaign by taking new photos of actual patients and developing designs more culturally appropriate for the Chinese audience. In addition to utilizing traditional media outlets such as TV, radio, newspapers, and outdoor advertising, we also leveraged social media and specific channels frequented by the Chinese community, including WeChat, the RED App (小红书), and collaborations with influencers, to disseminate the message throughout the community. The campaign was extremely successful, resulting in partnerships with over 40 local brands and businesses, encompassing more than 120 stores. By December 2019, the Chinese community had pledged over $800,000 in donations. Additionally, the foundation saw a significant increase in brand awareness, with articles and advertisements published during the campaign reaching over 20 million views.

Bring Bubble Tea Culture Across Canada

CoCo Fresh Tea and Juice

Before we initiated the project, CoCo Fresh Tea and Juice was an obscure bubble tea brand in Toronto, overshadowed by a dominant competitor in the market. This leading brand had no real rivals at the time. However, once CoCo was introduced to the public, interest in bubble tea surged, benefiting the entire industry. Over the past two years, more than 200 new bubble tea shops opened in Toronto. Our Strategy Our goals were to boost CoCo’s brand visibility and enhance its image in the market, ultimately increasing its share. We established a key brand message: “CoCo is the largest Taiwanese bubble tea brand globally, with over 2,000 locations.” Unlike other brands that primarily focused on the Chinese demographic, we aimed for a multiethnic audience. Recognizing the potential of the teenage market, we targeted this group, as they showed great promise for regular consumption of bubble tea and were also the most active on social media. We conducted various brand events and marketing campaigns specifically designed for teenagers. Results Our brand message reached a wide audience through numerous social media channels and major media outlets, achieving 1 million exposures in our first campaign. Increasing numbers of people expressed interest in trying CoCo, and the brand gained significant loyalty among teenagers. Word-of-mouth promotion on social media greatly enhanced brand awareness. As a result, CoCo emerged as the leading bubble tea brand in Toronto, achieving the highest sales revenue in the industry. Additionally, we helped CoCo expand from a single location to over 20 in just two years. Thanks to our efforts, CoCo was named the Best Bubble Tea Brand in Toronto by BlogTO.
