Fusion Factor - Modern classic interior design

The client sought to rejuvenate a historic residence, retaining its authentic character while incorporating modern elements. The aim was to harmoniously merge reconstructed interiors with original features, creating a sophisticated blend of traditional and contemporary styles. Our methodology emphasizes transparency with the building, focusing on preserving valuable original aspects while ensuring that new additions are modern yet not merely imitative. This integration establishes a refined aesthetic and sets a new benchmark for renovation projects. The six-story residence maximizes vertical connectivity, with the ground floor designed for an office that offers both accessibility and privacy, followed by a thoughtfully positioned kitchen and dining area. The first-floor living room extends from the front façade to the rear, providing sweeping views. The second floor consists of an open-plan master bedroom that maintains privacy, while the third floor features two bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. The top floor includes a loft room with a rooftop terrace offering views of Amsterdam. Storm focused on conserving original features, especially three marble fireplaces. Wall panels and ceiling rosettes were recreated, and elements like flooring and doors were replaced while preserving the original design. The materials can be divided into authentic and new, with the newer materials purposefully designed to reflect a contemporary quality. The combination of marble, oak parquet, and golden walnut creates a cohesive aesthetic, and bronze fittings were substituted with replicas that have a patina finish. The furniture selection is dominated by Italian brands, particularly Poliform and Minotti, along with custom-made pieces that highlight creativity and craftsmanship. Integrating smart home technology was a challenge, but we emphasized simplicity and essential functionalities. Klinkhamer Huis - Renovation of the townhouse

The Klinkhamer House, a distinguished listed monument built by Jacob Klinkhamer in 1890, underwent a significant transformation into a modern family residence that preserved its historical charm while catering to the specific needs of its owners. External modifications were limited due to its protected monument status, but the interior and fundamental structure were extensively updated. The floor plan was reimagined to make all levels, including the basement and attic, functional, featuring spacious open layouts. A private elevator was ingeniously integrated beside the original staircase to ensure easy access to every floor. The rear facade was carefully renovated to maintain its historical character, showcasing refined monochromatic off-white plaster, genuine wooden balconies, cast iron railings, and decorative cornices. The backyard was transformed into a verdant oasis with a marble-topped patio and a large lawn, providing a peaceful retreat for the family. Although the roof terrace and dormer window were additions not part of the original design, they were stylishly accentuated with clean, minimalist lines that matched the home’s contemporary style. The glass railings of the terrace offered unobstructed panoramic views of the city. In essence, the renovation of the Klinkhamer Huis resulted in a warm and modern family home that honored its historical roots while embracing modern luxury and practicality.
