Customer Research for a Chatbot Builder

STAM Research quickly grasped our needs from the outset and assisted us in exploring alternative strategies for our project. They conducted thorough customer and market research, both of which proved highly beneficial. The client faced a low conversion rate (below 1%) and, after experimenting with a few solutions, was uncertain about the underlying issues. Additionally, they aimed to broaden their market reach. Following an audit of their dashboard and identifying their top customers, we surveyed and interviewed them. Our findings revealed that two customer personas accounted for 80% of their revenue. We mapped out the customer journeys of these personas and examined their interactions with our client’s product in detail. We then developed three case studies illustrating three distinct ways customers utilized the platform, aimed at enhancing conversion rates and demonstrating the platform's capabilities. Ultimately, the client gained insight into their ideal buyers, strategies for attracting more like them, and the factors contributing to their low conversion rate. This led to an increase in customer lifetime value (LTV) and a healthier LTV to customer acquisition cost (CAC) ratio.

Our findings revealed that potential buyers were willing to pay between 250% to 500% more than the client's intended price for the course. We also identified four key conditions that the target audience required before making a purchase. This insight helped the company realize they had overlooked critical elements in their marketing strategy, ultimately saving them thousands of dollars. They are now working on fulfilling the four conditions and have decided to delay the course launch until those are met.

Feedback Interview Design for a New Product

The client, a tutoring franchise, faced challenges in achieving a product-market fit for one of their special courses for three years. Our goal was to identify the reasons for this struggle. Given the franchise's structure, we conducted interviews with four groups of stakeholders: students and parents (demand) as well as tutors and franchise owners (supply). After conducting the interviews, we discovered that while all stakeholder groups appreciated the concept of the course, the execution required improvements. We developed personas for each of the four groups and outlined what each needed in order to engage with the course. Using this feedback, the franchise revamped the course ahead of the new season, and it has since become part of their special tutoring offerings.
