Streamlining U.S.–Japan Connections

Japan Society of Northern California

For over a hundred years, the Japan Society of Northern California has played a vital role in enhancing the relationship between the United States and Japan. Serving as the region's primary center for cultural programs, business insights, and trans-Pacific collaboration, the organization boasts a rich history and a busy schedule of events. However, its website was not aligned with the current engagement methods of its members. JSNC required an updated digital presence that would simplify the process of discovering programs, registering for events, exploring membership options, and connecting with the community. Additionally, they sought a structure that would allow the internal team to manage the site without struggling with outdated systems or complicated navigation. We collaborated closely with President Steve Pollock, COO Miho Greenberg, and the JSNC team to redesign the website with a focus on clarity and user-friendliness. We streamlined navigation for quicker orientation, reorganized event listings with categories and icons for easier browsing of upcoming and past programs, and simplified membership, donation, and language program forms to enhance participation. On the design front, we updated JSNC's visual style with cleaner layouts, strategic imagery usage, and a tone that embodies the organization's blend of tradition and innovation. The outcome is a website that feels modern yet culturally rooted, respecting JSNC's legacy while paving the way for its future. The new site provides a smoother and more intuitive experience for members, donors, and newcomers, reinforcing JSNC's role as a bridge between the U.S. and Japan and offering a flexible platform that will evolve alongside the organization's mission for many years to come.

A Modern Redesign

Golden Gate Polymer Forum

The Golden Gate Polymer Forum has long been a reliable resource for experts and scholars in polymer science. However, its website, which contained valuable posts, research discussions, and event records, no longer met the needs of its distinguished community. The GGPF required a contemporary site that would respect its legacy, accommodate ongoing initiatives, and clearly present information. The project involved two main challenges: redesigning the site while retaining all existing content, and enhancing functionality without interfering with essential tools like Event Espresso and Constant Contact. The objective was to create a simpler, more user-friendly platform that felt both modern and familiar. We started with a comprehensive evaluation of the current website, analyzing information flow and spotting ways to streamline navigation. A new six-page sitemap was developed to create a more cohesive structure that directed users to events, news, and community resources. The design was updated with a contemporary, science-oriented look that appeared sharp and professional. Migrating content was a top priority; we moved all posts and historical events, transformed Jobs and Resumes into specialized custom post types, and ensured seamless integration with GGPF’s existing systems. To enhance the event experience, we improved the visual presentation of Event Espresso so that event pages matched the refined aesthetic of the updated site. Additional security measures and spam protections were implemented, along with suggestions for ongoing maintenance. The end result is a streamlined, modernized website that makes GGPF’s content more accessible and events easier to navigate. The refreshed design enhances the organization’s credibility and better represents the professional community it supports. With consistent styling, clearer navigation paths, and a sustainable maintenance plan—including training and support—the new site provides GGPF with a foundation for future growth.

Elevating a Leading California Law Firm

Rutan & Tucker

Rutan & Tucker is a highly regarded full-service law firm in California, recognized for its extensive expertise and established reputation. As the firm launched a new brand identity, it required an updated website that represented this evolution—opt for a cleaner, more modern design that meets the expectations of today’s clients and partners. Their objective was to enhance credibility, facilitate better communication, and reinforce their status as a thought leader in the legal field. We collaborated closely with their team to completely modernize the site. This involved migrating all existing content while reimagining how users navigated through practice areas, attorney profiles, and insights. The navigation was simplified to provide a more intuitive experience, helping potential clients quickly identify the firm's strengths and how to get in touch. Design enhancements brought their new branding to life online. The homepage was renovated to function as an effective marketing tool, showcasing their key capabilities and thought leadership. Special focus was given to attorney profiles—custom PDF downloads, improved layouts, and better content organization enhanced the utility and professionalism of these pages. The news and insights sections were redesigned to feel cohesive, accessible, and visually consistent with the overall site. The end result is a sleek, modern website that accurately reflects Rutan & Tucker's current identity. It portrays the firm as both confident and approachable, with clear entry points for potential clients and partners.
