Who are we? Selkie was founded by experts in psychology, service design, and UX, with a history dating back to 2012. What do we do? We leverage our expertise and methodologies to assist our partners in making informed choices and steering their product and service development in the right direction. For instance, we assess whether a product helps users achieve their goals in particular situations, considering not just their explicit expectations but also their habits and underlying behavioral factors. Our methods include task-based usability testing, Rapid Iterative Testing and Evaluation (RITE), structure tests, first-click tests, and click tracking. Possible outcomes consist of a prioritized list of errors, recommendations for specific areas of improvement, overall directional guidance for the product or service, and insights on user compatibility. We help validate product or service concepts by understanding audience needs and challenges. Through exploratory research, we assess the market and prioritize subsequent product development. Our techniques include in-depth interviews (IDI), contextual inquiries, focus groups, surveys, card sorting, diary methods, and shadowing.
