In 2003, James Schmertmann, Steve Bush, and Shane Swift started collaborating at Merrill Lynch. They quickly recognized that by each focusing on specific areas—financial planning, portfolio management, and insurance—they could join forces to provide clients with a more thorough service. With this goal, they departed from Merrill Lynch in 2008 to establish SBS Private Wealth Management. In January 2020, the firm rebranded as SBS Financial. Now, with a team of six advisors and three support staff all working together, SBS Financial continues to deliver tailored services to individuals and business owners in financial planning, investing, portfolio management, personal and corporate retirement strategies, as well as personal and business insurance needs.
