Wag like for pets care
**Business Requirements:** Develop a mobile application for pet owners (dogs, cats, birds, fish, turtles, etc.) to connect with individuals who can walk or care for their pets. Wag ($361.5M) was identified as the closest reference point.
**About the Task:** Create an app for pet owners, walkers, and sitters, enabling all parties to participate in both roles and facilitating a social network for interactions and services related to pets.
**Key Features:**
- GPS map tracking
- User profiles and social networking functionalities
- Chat feature with the ability to share pictures
- Schedule for work availability
- Various services for participants
- Information about pets
- Notifications and phone confirmations
- Administrative interface
**How It Started:** Upon initiating the project with the client, we received a thorough technical requirement and a clear understanding of the main concept: to provide individuals the means to offer assistance and care for pets through iOS and Android applications. The functionality needed included a scalable app with multiple features such as GPS tracking, chat, an admin interface, tailored profiles for pet owners and caregivers, comments, ratings, SMS verification, and push notifications for new events and messages. To ensure all aspects were covered, we employed our standard workflow to make requirements more visual.
**Technical Requirements for Screens:** We began by converting the text into mockups of the screens, followed by UX/UI design and crafting a Customer Journey Map. This process led to comprehensive technical requirements and a clear visual outline of what needed to be accomplished.
**Technology Stack and Implementation:** We proposed using React Native as the technology stack to save costs significantly—up to 50%. Once our solution was approved, we completed the statement of work and commenced production. For the backbone of the application, we opted for Node.JS with a robust PostgreSQL database accessed through an ORM layer. This decision resulted in essential financial benefits: flexible scaling of human resources in response to development demands, and an efficient coding workflow—full-stack engineers could quickly plan and implement changes without communication barriers, critical during the initial phase. After development and testing, the back-end was deployed on a reliable localized cloud service, and the app was launched on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
