**Situation** Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is a leading company in the information technology sector, helping customers advance their initiatives swiftly. With its technologies and services spanning the cloud, data centers, and workplace applications, HPE assists organizations globally in enhancing the efficiency, productivity, and security of their IT infrastructure. Retina was chosen to create HPE's content strategy and communication plan for blockchain. HPE faced a unique challenge unlike most B2B brands: while they had an abundance of top-of-the-funnel content that addressed issues related to blockchain technologies, they were missing substantial bottom-funnel content and were falling behind competitors. Our goal was to create a comprehensive content strategy that would support HPE's blockchain solutions and effectively reach audiences beyond the initial awareness phase in the financial services industry. **Solution** The "Boundaryless Blockchain" content series adopted a practical and actionable approach aimed at helping blockchain stakeholders overcome common obstacles. This initiative included a thorough library of 47 new content pieces, such as: - White papers/eBooks - Videos - Infographics - Blog posts - Technical papers - Podcasts - Influencer roundtable discussions at the Mobile World Congress and the Blockchain Innovation Conference - An exclusive media summit hosted at HPE’s new facility in Palo Alto **Outcomes** The campaign established HPE as a leader in thought leadership, positioning it as the premier brand in the blockchain sector—enhancing lead velocity and converting sales opportunities into completed deals.

Cisco – Unica Implementation

**Context**: Cisco had centralized most of its marketing operations into a Global Demand Center (GDC), utilizing both traditional and digital marketing strategies supported by a Marketing Automation platform featuring nearly 40 integrated marketing applications. However, the outbound campaign tool, which managed email and call center campaigns, was struggling to keep pace with demand. Cisco was executing around 5,000 tactics each quarter, with over 100 campaign execution specialists engaged in tasks such as selection, segmentation, nurturing, offer management, lead qualification, and lead routing using ePiphany, an outdated technology. To cope with its extensive campaign volume, Cisco had acquired Unica from IBM (now HCL Software) three years earlier, but the implementation project was significantly delayed and over budget. **Resolution**: To realign the Unica implementation and integration project, Cisco sought an expert familiar with both Unica technology and the broader marketing platform implementation process. Retina restarted the entire Unica project from the ground up, establishing clear requirements, a well-planned architecture, and a robust project management methodology. They organized separate tracks for technical re-implementation, data integration, changeover processes, and staff training on the new technology. Each track was managed under the premise that success in one would imply success in others, and progress alongside potential delays were closely monitored, reallocating expert resources as needed. **Results**: Despite the initial project's repeated failures over three years prior to Retina's involvement, the team managed to successfully complete the implementation and launch it globally within six months. This implementation marked the largest known deployment of IBM Unica to date, earning Retina an excellence award at the Monaco Marketing Automation Summit that same year.

ING Group – Unica Upgrade to 11.1

**Situation**: ING Bank Romania, a subsidiary of the ING Group, is part of a global banking network with approximately 53,000 employees serving around 38.4 million clients, including individuals, businesses, and financial institutions across more than 40 countries. ING opted for IBM Unica Campaign as its tool for managing outbound campaigns. However, due to the bank's substantial data volume and commitment to privacy and security, it has been consistently working to stay compliant with internal security regulations, GDPR requirements, and the latest technological advancements. Consequently, ING’s Unica systems became outdated, lacking essential features introduced in subsequent versions. Following HCL's announcement of discontinuing support for version 9.1.2, ING urgently needed to upgrade. **Solution**: Retina leveraged its extensive banking experience and expertise in various enterprise marketing management technologies, including IBM Unica, to oversee the Unica upgrade project. We began by defining the hardware, software, and security needs, as well as developing the upgrade process. To ensure proper functionality of the solution, we also designed a series of tests covering functionality, integration, and performance. In the second phase, we executed the upgrade from version 9.1.2 to 11.1, applying necessary configurations to preserve existing functionalities, implementing new security measures, and conducting pre-planned tests across three environments. The upgrade involved installation, configuration, and sanity checks for each of the four versions necessary for a successful transition. **Outcomes**: The project was executed seamlessly, without interruptions or bugs, and was completed, including user acceptance testing, in under two months. The upgrade provided ING with enhanced security, improved performance environments, and new Unica features. Additionally, this project strengthened the partnership between ING and Retina, paving the way for further initiatives that will help maintain ING’s position as one of Europe’s premier financial institutions.
