Internal Startup Organizational Design & Standup

Chosen to collaborate with a team of seven in the PMO tasked with establishing a new internal "startup" within the organization, with a budget of $1 billion. My responsibilities included leading the organizational design, creating the operating model, developing a change management plan, onboarding and coaching leadership, setting up the organization (initially over 200 members), and providing coaching and consulting throughout the first two years of operation. The combined cost of these two cohorts was under $1 million, but they generated billions in value through enhanced future revenue and reduced risks. Agile & Lean Transformation

We were invited to Kuwait to offer leadership and team training, as well as organizational design, transformation assistance, and coaching for several joint groups comprising Kuwaiti, American, and Saudi Arabian operational divisions. Our three-week visit involved leadership and executive coaching and training, along with team and management coaching and training. We also conducted multiple sessions with individual teams and project managers to develop operating models and change plans to facilitate their transition to agile and lean methods of working. Our core philosophy emphasized that agile and lean principles are context-dependent, and that enhancing team and organizational performance relies on the specific nature of the work being performed, rather than adhering to a randomly chosen framework for arbitrary reasons. This perspective encouraged organizations to recognize that they do not need to execute tasks identically; instead, they should understand which execution methods are more suitable based on the type of work involved. This approach was transformative for everyone involved and was met with great enthusiasm. Subsequent collaboration continued for over a year.
