OUR STORY
Mel Craig has been a pioneer in automotive paint correction for over 50 years, establishing The Recon Pros and shaping the detailing industry long before it became mainstream. Beginning his career in the pre-coating era of the 1970s and 1980s, Mel honed his craft using traditional techniques like rotary buffers and waxes, emphasizing paint safety, meticulous inspections, and repeatable results. In 1999, he opened one of America’s first formal training schools for detailers, personally mentoring hundreds. As an early adopter of ceramic coatings, Mel bridges classic skills with modern advancements. Recognized as Detailing Person of the Year in 2020 and featured on shows like Motor Trend’s Wheeler Dealers, he continues to train professionals and serve clients from his Huntington Beach
