We are creating a maritime application for a prominent manufacturer of Voyage Data Recorders (VDRs) and ship-to-shore data solutions. This initiative draws on our technical skills and innovative strategies, with the goal of delivering robust, user-friendly, and advanced technological tools for maritime operations. The project involves Danelec Marine, a company based near Copenhagen, Denmark, known for optimizing safety, costs, and performance in marine operations. Danelec Marine is a leading producer of VDRs, Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS), and ship-to-shore data solutions, with maritime applications deployed on over 6,000 vessels globally. As a top VDR manufacturer, Danelec Marine aimed to develop an app to help ship managers quickly identify issues and failures, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and integrate third-party data analytics for continuous fleet and asset improvement. Our methodology involved an Agile approach, breaking development work into weekly sprints to ensure the product team could swiftly adapt to changes and bring the app to market promptly. We began the project with a small team focused on enhancing user experience and the existing Danelec maritime app's technical aspects. The collaboration started with a needs assessment and an in-depth exploration of Danelec's business objectives, ensuring we grasped their goals clearly.

Streamlining workflows among maintenance experts

Building on its property tech platform utilized by numerous B2B companies across the US, DMG set out to enhance its web platform, specifically targeting the distinct needs of users such as electricians and plumbers. The objective was to streamline workflows to boost productivity while lowering margins and cycle times. This initiative highlights DMG's dedication to innovation, addressing user needs, and improving service delivery. DMG sought our assistance in new product development, specifically to enhance its existing platform, DMG Pro. The goal was to integrate routine tasks into the tool to minimize manual efforts in contract, agreement, and fulfillment workflows, thereby optimizing margins and cycle times. This required us to quickly assemble a cross-functional remote team and implement a consultative working process to effectively support the Product Owner in defining requirements. As the team primarily focused on production challenges and client-requested enhancements, a key challenge was to prioritize tasks appropriately. The strategy involved establishing trust and fostering open communication to create a collaborative environment. Our independent frontend, backend, and QA team embraced the technology stack, developing a web application to automate processes from property management to work scheduling. We remained adaptable to DMG’s workflow, which led to high-quality results for both parties.
