Based in New York City, it was established in the 1970s by Samuel Lipson, a local craftsman who learned his trade from his father, a Polish tanner, and initially worked from home. Over the years, Lipson and his son Rick, who is now the President & CEO, have expanded the company's services, creating innovative ways to customize leather and a variety of other materials.
