Lichterketten Shop AG

In January 2021, the e-commerce company lichterketten-shop.ch partnered with R17 Ventures for performance marketing. One of the initial challenges we faced was identifying profitable products or collections that could generate a return on ad spend (ROAS) greater than 4 with Facebook Ads. After experimenting with various categories, we discovered that solar lanterns were our niche product, which became essential for acquiring new customers through Facebook. In contrast, our Google Ads performance remained stable; however, we encountered a challenge with our core products being seasonal, leading to an 80% decline in search demand from September to March. To tackle this seasonality issue, we introduced a Christmas collection and began pre-selling solar lanterns from January to March. Once these strategies were implemented, we successfully scaled our paid media efforts on Facebook, Google, and Pinterest, increasing our monthly orders from 50 to 1,500 in just six months. We take particular pride in the methodology we developed to determine which of the 1,000+ products in the Christmas range to offer before placing our orders.

SoFlow

The collaboration between SoFlow and R17 in performance marketing commenced in August 2021. SoFlow, a Swiss consumer electronics firm, operates globally in e-commerce, offering mobility products like E-Scooters, E-Skateboards, and E-Bikes. From the beginning, SoFlow experienced a significant surge in sales and an improvement in profitability. R17 not only boosted the conversion rates on SoFlow's e-commerce site but also reduced the advertising cost-to-revenue ratio. Advertising efforts were conducted on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Google Ads. Upon starting the partnership with SoFlow AG, we had to establish a foundation for paid media, as there were no actively managed paid advertisements or tracking pixels in place. Through various testing, we identified the countries, platforms, and target audiences that could be scaled effectively. Following this, we succeeded in doubling and, in some months, tripling revenue while maintaining profitability. The next phase aims at expanding into new countries, employing the same strategy, and assisting their online distributors in driving sales. Here are the results:

Dominating the Swiss bonsai market

Bonsai.ch

In collaboration with Bonsai.ch GmbH, R17 Ventures AG established an e-commerce joint venture called bonsai.ch. Our goal is to lead the online bonsai market in Switzerland by leveraging the key strengths of both partners. After launching the joint venture, we transitioned the existing store from WooCommerce to Shopify and introduced essential features for future expansion, including up-selling and cross-selling capabilities as well as feed solutions for selling on various marketplaces. The primary challenge in performance marketing was managing Google Ads carefully to avoid undermining the already strong organic sales volume while still achieving profitable return on ad spend (ROAS). By the end of 2022, we plan to digitize our physical courses and make all existing classes available online. The Results:
