Dicatec Web Platform Modernization & Upgrade
Raven Technology reached out to us to revamp Dicatec, an essential automotive platform that technicians rely on for diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance tasks. The original web platform was essentially a direct copy of an outdated desktop system, resulting in issues like non-relational data, duplication, and scattered content across various formats such as RTF files, PDFs, and images. As the system expanded, its performance suffered, workflows became cumbersome, and adding new features grew increasingly challenging. This wasn’t merely a technical problem; it posed significant business risks, as the platform hindered product development, limited scalability, and increased the threat of losing market share to more advanced rivals. To address this, we started by reverse engineering the system to gain insights into its actual data relationships and real-world application. From there, we redesigned it with a structured, domain-driven approach that aligns better with technicians' workflows. Rather than opting for a high-risk one-time migration, we adopted a phased strategy involving trial migrations, validation cycles, and incremental updates. This method ensured data accuracy while allowing the new system to develop alongside the existing one. The outcome is a fast, organized, and scalable platform where technicians can seamlessly access diagrams, repair tips, and technical information. AI-driven fault code insights enhance diagnostics, and a newly added service module allows for tracking services and utilizing established maintenance templates. The performance improvements have been remarkable, with key workflows reducing from over 30 seconds to almost instantaneous response times, while data redundancy has been cut by more than 95 percent. The platform is currently in live beta testing, with actual users offering feedback that promotes ongoing enhancements. It has now transformed into a high-performance, scalable solution that is well-positioned to compete in the market.
