Buffalo Inspection Services

Buffalo Inspection Services, faced with strict regulatory compliance and federally mandated non-destructive testing (NDT) reporting requirements, sought to address inefficiencies in their current paper-based data entry process. To transform their manual operations, they partnered with Punchcard to implement a digital reporting and data entry system aimed at reducing inefficiencies and mitigating risks. This digital approach enabled Buffalo to enhance their reporting process, establishing quality assurance and control measures to maintain high data quality and integrity. In early 2013, they launched Buffalo Connex, a portal designed to streamline data entry and digitize field reporting. Elevating Citizen Scientists with NatureCounts App

Birds Canada

In 2019, Birds Canada approached Punchcard to enhance the experience and data quality for both Citizen Scientists and professional scientists involved in their projects. They believed that creating a custom mobile app would allow them to: Enable direct data entry during surveys, offer real-time error feedback to enhance data quality and accuracy, facilitate easier offline data collection compared to their current paper and web-based systems, accurately locate birds using users' mobile GPS, and provide users with the latest list of local birds. At that time, existing birding mobile apps were largely generic and did not accommodate the diverse birding protocols required by Birds Canada for their research, and their limited functionality made them unsuitable for long-term use. We began by developing a minimum viable product (MVP) to initiate the collection of survey data. Impact Metrics: - 400% increase in submitted checklists - 111% rise in annual user participation - Over 500,000 data records gathered - Savings of 7,300 hours in data entry time Outcomes: The app enabled citizen scientists and volunteers to input bird data in real-time during birdwatching, providing immediate feedback on their entries. It allowed the collection of GPS tracks to analyze the correlation between visited habitats and reported species. Designing Great Customer Experience with Go Auto

Go Auto

Go Auto recently underwent a brand refresh, which included an update to their design system. While the new design system was created with the website in consideration, it wasn't entirely suited for the mobile app experience. We collaborated with Go Auto to adapt their design system for mobile, enhancing the overall customer experience. Our long-standing partnership with Go Auto is highly valued by us. Over the years, our collaboration has evolved from outcome-driven projects to a flexible team approach, in which we supplement Go Auto’s existing digital product team with our personnel to expedite the release of features and products. The Go Auto mobile app was officially launched in July 2022, and we have since been working together to consistently release updates and new features. Recently, in anticipation of a major national advertising campaign featuring NHL star Connor McDavid, Go Auto opted for a comprehensive brand refresh that would affect both their website and mobile app. Our strategy was to implement the changes by prioritizing the most noticeable global adjustments and the most significant screens first, ensuring a cohesive overall look and feel for the app throughout a series of iterative releases. The outcome involved successfully merging the design systems while maintaining usability and user expectations, allowing for the regular release of features and functionalities while introducing the new design system and making the mobile user experience as seamless as that of the web.
