In the United States, approximately 10 million pets go missing each year, yet only 3-5% have microchips. In light of this, can technological advancements offer a new way to help reunite lost pets with their owners? As a longstanding collaborator with adam&eveDDB, we have extensive experience with their creative and project management teams on significant projects. They approached us to develop an AI-powered app capable of identifying dogs by their nose, intending to support a pilot campaign as an alternative to conventional pet tagging in the U.S. for a major IAMS marketing initiative. To tackle this project, we worked closely with the adam&eveDDB creative team to transform their campaign designs into a user-friendly app. The initial phase involved determining whether machine learning could successfully identify and capture a unique ‘nose print’ from images and videos of dogs, along with creating a prototype for identification, registration, and reunification. We integrated data analytics with usability testing feedback to refine the dog registration and reporting processes. Given that IAMS is part of the Mars Group, we adhered to various security and IT protocols, with our tech leads collaborating diligently with Mars teams to ensure a smooth launch without delays. The outcome was successful; we demonstrated that AI could effectively recognize dogs using images of their unique nose prints. During the pilot program in Memphis, Tennessee, there were 22,000 app downloads, resulting in the successful return of several lost dogs to their owners. Additionally, we observed a 36% increase in registration rates throughout the app pilot, facilitated by usability testing and data analytics. This effort helped position IAMS as an innovative brand, achieving the most cutting-edge public relations in its 76-year history.

**The Challenge** The firmware security sector has long depended on an outdated strategy that harkens back to 1990s virus scanning technology. As the number of threats and vulnerabilities grows, a modern approach is needed to effectively distinguish true threats and determine mitigation strategies—without overwhelming security professionals with irrelevant or obsolete information. Binarly is transforming firmware security. They approached us to assist in their evolution from a startup to a market leader by creating a brand and website that reflect their accomplishments, ambitions, and position in the market. **What We Did** As is customary for startups, we began with a discovery phase where we collaborated with Binarly's leadership team to thoroughly understand their company, offerings, industry, and objectives. This phase is crucial for startups, as it ensures that everyone is aligned on the project's goals before moving into the delivery stage. Our design team partnered with Binarly’s leaders to establish a new brand identity and positioning, leading to the development of a new website. The client requested the site be built in Webflow, so we quickly familiarized ourselves with that platform. During this time, we learned of an upcoming significant funding announcement, which necessitated an expedited timeline for the website launch. We adapted the project scope to create a minimum viable product (MVP) while devising a plan for the full site to coincide with the release of the new version of the Binarly Transparency Platform. **The Results** The new brand and website have been met with widespread acclaim and have played a pivotal role in Binarly’s ongoing growth. The success of this project has led to Psycle being invited to assist with all of Binarly’s marketing design needs, including conference booths, merchandise, reports, product sheets, and more.

In collaboration with Google Arts & Culture, Psycle created the Fabricius experiment, which investigates how machine learning can aid in studying Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. They partnered with scholars to examine the translation process and pinpoint ways to enhance digital humanities tools. Through collaborative user experience design and prototyping, they developed resources that improved existing stages of transcription and translation. An education-focused section incorporated features from these tools to craft a customized 'Learn' experience, allowing visitors to discover the fundamentals of Egyptian hieroglyphs. The announcement video garnered 3.5 million views, the social media campaign achieved 2 million engagements, and the Experiment attracted over 590,000 unique visitors within six months. Additionally, 64% of users who began the Learn experience successfully completed it.
