Micheldever Group Tunes Up Protyre Retail Brand

The Challenge: Micheldever Group has grown its retail footprint to 184 autocare centers but did not have a cohesive long-term digital strategy. This resulted in disjointed customer experiences, higher costs, and overlooked digital prospects. To maintain a competitive edge, a transformation was necessary. The Plan: Their transformation initiative started with a Discovery phase aimed at aligning strategic goals with their retail network and digital elements. This phase focused on grasping customer requirements for a more engaging user experience. Modernizing the e-commerce platform was identified as crucial for achieving their objectives. Micheldever partnered with Profound to analyze target profiles, map user journeys, and develop a technical framework, website structure, and creative elements rooted in customer insights to minimize bias. Technology Approach: To ensure flexibility and adaptability, they implemented a composable digital framework that separates front-end and back-end systems. This strategy enabled them to build a customer-focused, future-ready architecture. Key technologies used were Commercetools (e-commerce), Storyblok (CMS), Pimberly (PIM), Bynder (DAM), and Algolia (search functionality). Profound was responsible for creating the front-end experience and an integration layer to ensure smooth data flow. Value Delivered: The primary success indicators included: The transformation led to a seamless purchasing experience for Protyre customers, allowing for online ordering of autocare products and services. The MACH architecture improved performance and agility while reducing infrastructure responsibilities. It also made data operations more efficient and supported complex scenarios across tires, MOTs, and autocare services at multiple locations.

Interflora: Transforming 20 years in 9 months

Interflora has been a prominent figure in the flower industry since 1920, initially selling flowers through telegrams. By 2019, the company recognized the need to update its e-commerce platform, which had been developed over the past two decades. We collaborated with them to choose a suitable architecture and new technology suite, as well as to implement a design system. In just nine months, Interflora successfully transitioned its three e-commerce sites to a new platform. The challenge faced by Interflora UK involved managing three consumer-facing websites alongside a telesales division. Two of these websites were running on an outdated custom-built Perl platform, while the other operated on a Java-based platform—all needed to be unified under a single system. The previous architecture was limited, resulting in high hosting costs to maintain consistent availability, even for just three peak traffic periods annually. In addition to technical requirements, the Interflora team had various business goals. Working within an agile framework, our partner Profound and the Interflora team collaborated to launch all three sites within nine months, meeting both the timeline and budget. The completed project has resulted in a modern digital presence and enhanced internal capabilities for platform evolution.
