Outsourcing partner for application development

Berenberg

Berenberg, a prominent private bank in Europe, sought a partner to handle the outsourcing of its internal application development. Profinit provided a team to collaborate with Berenberg's staff in creating applications that addressed their business requirements. The partnership initiated with the Securities Workbench project, which supports investment advisory services related to securities. Profinit contributed its expertise in full-stack development, project management, and governance. Together, they stabilized the Securities Workbench project, designed a modular architecture, migrated the project to Azure Cloud, and implemented new modules. The solution needed to fulfill the following requirements: - The ability to develop and maintain internal applications - Standardization of the investment advisory process for securities into a single system The technology stack included Kotlin, Spring, JPA/Hibernate, Angular, Oracle Database, Azure, Kubernetes, and Azure DevOps.

Migrating data to a new core systems

02 Czech Republic

Profinit developed a detailed plan, including a minute-by-minute cutover schedule for the initial phase of the SOC project. They oversaw the progress and coordination of all 60 impacted systems, facilitating data migrations from 10 discontinued or altered applications to 7 newly operational systems. The data migrations entailed not just the physical transfer of data between source and target systems, but also considerable data transformation to address the differences in logic between the old and new environments, as well as adjustments due to the significant simplification of the product portfolio and the cancellation or introduction of numerous tariffs, packages, and other services. This large-scale migration required around 10 months of preparation, with 6 months dedicated solely to cutover planning. The main cutover took place over 55 continuous hours, during which an eight-member team from Profinit coordinated around 110 personnel from 11 different service providers along with O2 employees. They produced 75,000 lines of code, 4.5 MB of source code, and configurations. “This was the most extensive IT initiative in our company’s history, enabling us to simplify our architecture, preserve legacy systems, and primarily help our business teams reduce time to market (TTM). Although Profinit did not provide the source or target systems, they effectively managed both the technical and organizational elements of the data migration, which are typically the most challenging aspects of such projects,” stated Michal Dvořák, CIO of O2 Czech Republic.
