Haha You Just Ate Vegetables
As Wholly Veggie prepared to enter the US market with a goal of making healthy snacks accessible to everyone, they turned to Party Land to discuss how to present their vegetable-based fun-to-eat products in an engaging manner. The main challenge was figuring out how to differentiate themselves in the competitive and often overly serious plant-based food sector while staying true to the brand's essence. Initially, they assumed that 'not everyone loves vegetables,' but upon closer examination, they found there are those who harbor a strong disdain for vegetables, even creating blogs, cookbooks, and clothing lines centered around this hatred. This insight provided a humorous and unique angle for their campaign, emphasizing a tone of playful outrage. The brand described itself as “Vegetables, but fun,” which was a good starting point but needed more energy. It was up to the team to bring this idea to life in an engaging way for consumers. As they developed three 30-second spots, the phrase ‘Ha Ha you just ate vegetables’ emerged as a natural extension of the main concept, suggesting that sometimes a little nudge is necessary to encourage vegetable consumption. This idea also opened doors for celebratory follow-up campaigns centered around vegetables. In November 2022, they launched a multimedia campaign featuring three videos across digital platforms, out-of-home advertising, and radio. So far, results have been promising: media performance has exceeded expectations, and sales in the US have soared. While it's still too early to assess the campaign's impact on brand tracking metrics, initial results are encouraging.
