Heterobota
National Gallery of Victoria / Agnieszka Pilat
Agnieszka Pilat's groundbreaking installation at the NGV Triennial showcased three Boston Dynamics robots that autonomously painted for four months, utilizing advancements in robotics and artificial intelligence. The team at Paradox penned the introductory piece for Ms. Pilat's exhibition, which included other notable artists like Yoko Ono, Tracey Emin, Maurizio Cattelan, and the Italian fashion house Schiaparelli. They also managed an international press campaign that resulted in features in major outlets such as The Guardian, Boston Globe, ABC Australia, Business Insider, Fox News, Artnet, Forbes, and The Daily Mail. "Agnieszka Pilat’s Heterobota challenges our perceptions of machines functioning beyond servitude and engaging in their own creative endeavors. Here, visitors are welcomed into the realm of four-legged robots – Basia Spot, Omuzana Spot, and Bunny Spot – to observe and interact as they partake in their daily activities. By playing, resting, and creating art in their studio, the robots produce their own artworks, reflecting behaviors and creative abilities reminiscent of our own." -NGV
