Fathom is a prominent global authority in water risk intelligence, offering clients and partners cutting-edge flood models that leverage the latest advancements in scientific research amid escalating climate change challenges. The importance of academic research remains a cornerstone for the team, just as it was when co-founders Andrew Smith and Christopher Sampson connected during their PhDs at the University of Bristol. This collaboration led to a straightforward consulting approach and a distinct company branding identity that needed some refinement. Fathom is known for its quirky brand, focusing on large clients such as insurance companies and governmental bodies. However, the company faced issues with inconsistent branding materials and a user-unfriendly website. Additionally, the existing site was built on a proprietary hosting solution, making maintenance and updates difficult. Addressing these issues while preserving the brand's unique personality was a top priority for Fathom. To tackle these challenges, Nopio leveraged SEO and UX research to confidently enter the design phase. The Nopio team aimed to enhance the existing brand character while retaining its quirky essence. They utilized their proprietary modular WordPress development system, ThemeFlex™, which enables the client to effortlessly create new pages or modify existing content without needing developer support. Nopio’s user-focused approach to web design ensured Fathom's team was actively engaged in all key stages of the project, resulting in timely and budget-compliant delivery. Dietomix Diet and Nutrition eCommerce Platform

Dietomix

Dietmix is a Polish online platform that provides healthy, balanced meal plans tailored for use with a Thermomix device. Operated by certified dietitians, it offers a reliable source of quick and easy meal ideas, making it perfect for those who are busy or not inclined to cook regularly. The Challenge The concept of Dietmix was straightforward: to deliver paid diet plans online. However, before reaching out to Nipio, the Dietmix team had started developing a fully custom software solution but faced slow progress over several months. It became clear they needed to change direction, though it was uncertain whether the issues arose from insufficient resources or the chosen technological approach. Solution Ultimately, we determined that a custom software solution wasn't the best fit for Dietmix. The information architecture required for storing recipes and meal plans is hierarchical and aligns well with the WordPress CMS. Additionally, creating custom software with eCommerce capabilities would be costlier than utilizing an existing platform like WordPress. When feasible, we recommend startups like Dietmix adopt reliable platforms like WordPress instead of creating entirely custom software. This strategy provides a practical solution for validation at a fraction of the cost and time of a custom build. Once the product received validation, they could explore custom software options. Our team developed a tailored system for managing and creating recipes and meal plans, incorporating microelements, calculations, and additional features to assist dietitians in formulating diets efficiently. We collaborated closely with Dietmix to create a solution that embodied their vision and specific use cases. The project lasted three months and officially launched on March 8, 2022, with the first orders being placed just minutes after going live.
