The Brief: A complete overhaul of Visit North Tyneside, the tourism website catering to both tourists and locals, showcasing activities, events, and popular attractions like the Mouth of the Tyne Festival. Our Solution: We created a fresh, distinctive design since the site had used the same layout for years. Our aim was to make it visually appealing, accessible, and user-friendly. A significant upgrade was the introduction of a mobile-friendly version to improve user experience, allowing users to access all site features while on the go. The accessible guide is organized thematically—such as Eating and Drinking, Family Activities, and Outdoor sections—making it easy to locate relevant information. A Destination Management System (DMS) ensures up-to-date information about specific areas, and businesses can promote themselves on the site. The Visit North Tyneside DMS processes tourist data from local establishments like guesthouses and restaurants to offer thorough pre- and post-arrival information. This system has potential for further enhancements, such as enabling hotel bookings and restaurant reservations. Furthermore, a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) module could generate reports on room and table availability based on reservations in the system, helping businesses optimize planning and adapt to spikes in demand. The 'Getting Around' section serves as a guide for transportation options to and within North Tyneside, featuring a highlight with a Find a Car Park tool.

This app enables users to "experience genuine connection" by selecting a potential date and reserving a participating venue to meet. Users make a deposit for each date using Credit Card, Debit Card, or Apple Pay, facilitated by the Stripe Payment Gateway. **Our Solution** The Visavis platform operates on a two-sided marketplace model, where a cloud-based system allows participating venues—primarily within the hospitality sector—to register, connect their bank accounts through Stripe Connect, and manage their availability and pricing using a venue-focused dashboard. When a date is booked at a participating venue, the venue immediately receives the user's deposit. Venues can self-manage their capacity and availability through the dedicated dashboard, which is designed for high operational scalability. The marketplace fee is dynamically determined based on the venue type (for instance, different rates may apply for restaurants compared to bars and coffee shops), and this fee is charged instantly to Visavis Ventures through the integration with Stripe Connect. The native mobile app, launched on iOS and developed using Swift, includes a customized backend API that merges the marketplace dashboard for hospitality venues with Stripe Connect Payment Gateway integration, developed in Python using the Django framework, supported by a highly scalable PostgreSQL database, and deployed to the cloud via Amazon Web Services for global scalability and transaction efficiency.
