MorelandConnect & riskLD
MorelandConnect, in partnership with riskLD and a leading healthcare system in Northeast Ohio, has developed software specifically for Labor and Delivery Units. This software, which includes Obstetric Guidelines, aims to enhance maternal health outcomes in the U.S., where the maternal mortality rate is alarmingly high, with an estimated 60% of those deaths being preventable. Women across various races, socioeconomic statuses, and geographic areas are impacted, particularly African American women who face a disproportionate share of this issue. The software tackles critical challenges in obstetric care, such as inadequate situational awareness and the failure to follow evidence-based practices. It boasts an intuitive interface that continuously tracks maternal and fetal health indicators, identifies high-risk situations, provides clinical alerts, and aids in evidence-based decision-making. Additionally, it encourages adherence to Clinical Practice Guidelines established by the University Hospitals System in Cleveland, Ohio. A standout feature of the software is its capacity to enhance communication and coordination among healthcare providers, improving the transfer of care, facilitating rapid patient acuity assessments, and refining care planning. Consequently, it has led to a remarkable 92% reduction in Serious Safety Events and a 93% decrease in obstetric litigation costs. The software’s development and subsequent approval from Epic App Orchard make its advantages accessible to healthcare systems nationwide. Its success in Northeast Ohio indicates that similar beneficial outcomes could be replicated in other regions, through a platform that caters to the needs of both healthcare providers and patients.
