**The Vision**: The Kansas Leadership Center recognized an opportunity to leverage their network of leaders to motivate Kansans to take action against the Coronavirus pandemic. They planned a statewide public health initiative aimed at activating and connecting local leadership to fight COVID-19. Ed O’Malley, President & CEO of KLC, stated, “KDHE and Governor Kelly have turned to KLC to help mobilize Kansans for this unprecedented challenge. We are rallying our statewide network of partners and 12,000 leadership program alumni to host virtual, non-partisan meetings that will foster local support and drive tangible efforts to reduce the virus's spread.” **The Challenges**: **The Results**: The Kansas Leadership Center contacted Moonbase Labs, understanding that software would play a crucial role in realizing this initiative. To ensure success, we integrated closely with their team, participating in daily stand-up meetings throughout the project. As the platform's requirements evolved daily, we adapted in real time. Within two weeks, a prototype was launched, enabling KLC partners to start organizing meetings and inviting facilitators. Over the following weeks, we consistently delivered significant new features every few days as they were needed. **The Takeaway**: Ed O'Malley, President & CEO of Kansas Leadership Center, remarked, "Moonbase Labs was the perfect partner for this project. They dove in and began addressing challenges immediately." The Vision: The Kansas Multi-Tier System of Supports and Alignment (MTSS) aims to facilitate systemic improvements in classrooms, schools, and districts across Kansas by assisting educational leaders in resource alignment. A key priority for the MTSS team is to inventory the diverse initiatives currently in place within Kansas school districts. Previously, they utilized Google Forms and Google Sheets to gather extensive survey responses, but they manually cleaned up the messy or repetitive data and reported on it, which was also a labor-intensive task. Seeking to enhance their operations and extend their support to more school districts, MTSS reached out to Moonbase Labs. To achieve this objective, we developed a tailored survey and data analytics tool, named KERII (KansasMTSS Education Resource & Initiative Inventory), enabling Kansas MTSS to collect data from teachers and provide insights to school district leaders. The Results: Thanks to agile software development—a hallmark of Moonbase Labs’ approach—the project commenced promptly. By collaborating with the MTSS team to review and refine the survey, we enhanced the quality of the data captured. This allowed them to start gathering survey responses right away while we continued to develop necessary reporting features. Moonbase Labs released incremental updates to the platform as the MTSS team offered continuous feedback. This collaborative effort led to the timely completion of data analytics capabilities ahead of the new school year. Over the following two months, MTSS accomplished several objectives with the new tool. The Takeaway: “Our web-based software has transformed our processes in numerous ways! The Vision: Since 2013, NetWork Kansas has hosted more than 150 youth entrepreneurship competitions throughout the state. Each year, their team organizes numerous entrepreneurs, judges, mentors, and educators for these significant events. However, as the program expanded, the spreadsheets and standard tools they used for management began to fall short. To address this, NetWork Kansas reached out to Moonbase Labs to develop a tool that would enhance the scalability and reach of their program. Through several meetings, we identified an opportunity for them to leverage their expertise to create a new, nationwide product. By licensing the software to other competitions across the country, they could generate a new revenue source to support the program's future. The Results: Over an eight-month period, we worked alongside the NetWork Kansas team to create VentureDash – “The best way to run a business competition.” VentureDash serves as an online management system for entrepreneurship competitions, aimed at simplifying the organization of entrepreneurship fairs and business plan contests throughout the U.S. The Moonbase Labs team employed various skill sets to achieve the following: In its initial six months, VentureDash facilitated the creation of 95 competitions with over 1,100 participants nationwide. The Takeaway: “VentureDash has become a powerful platform for us to promote youth entrepreneurship on a national stage, and it wouldn't be possible without our partnership with Moonbase Labs.” – Erik Pedersen, VP of Entrepreneurship at NetWork Kansas.
