Early Learning STEM Australia

University Of Canberra

We had the chance to create an innovative new learning program in collaboration with the University of Canberra and the Department of Education. Our selection was based on our inventive approach and our proven track record of delivering exceptional applications for large-scale pilot initiatives. Since we began working on ELSA a year ago, the program has received full approval and secured $5.1 million in initial funding. The apps we developed allow children to engage in a variety of activities. As part of our development output, we also designed four unique characters, each with distinct traits that align with the subjects they represent. To teach STEM concepts to young learners, we created two apps. The first app introduced the idea of recognizing patterns and arrangements through activities like organizing a daily schedule, stringing decorations, singing and dancing exercises, and sorting healthy foods into lunchboxes. The second app focused on understanding spatial terms such as over, under, on top of, and underneath. Within this app, children could play hide and seek, discover the zoo, arrange books and objects on shelves, and take photos in a playground setting to understand different perspectives.

Something Eerie

RLSSA

Something Eerie was designed for the Royal Life Saving Society Australia to help children learn how to be safe in, on, and around water. The app also provides guidance on how to respond in serious emergencies. Players learn valuable lessons by making correct or incorrect choices within the game. Anonymous data analytics are used to assess and monitor the effectiveness of each interactive story, allowing the client to evaluate the app's success based on their key performance indicators, particularly the total number of stories engaged with. This approach helped them ascertain how many children absorbed the lessons presented. Each story lasts about 5-10 minutes and involves solving a mystery. Characters play a crucial role in crafting engaging narratives, and those we developed effectively conveyed educational messages for our clients. Central to the Something Eerie tales is Ruby, the main character who finds herself in the unusual town of Eerie Creek, where odd and mysterious occurrences are commonplace—are they supernatural or something else entirely?

Stymied

Right from the start, the client recognized that Mode stood out from other game developers he had collaborated with in the past, and he has never regretted his decision. Unlike his earlier experience, which produced an unsatisfactory game, he thoroughly enjoyed partnering with Mode to revamp his project. Despite a limited budget and tight deadlines, we transformed and launched the same game design to a professional level. Through our creative guidance, we achieved a successful game launch that surpassed the client's expectations.
