Our journey began in 1948 when the Sunner family from Punjab arrived in the UK, bringing resilience and hard work. They pioneered multicultural retail by establishing one of the first ethnic shops in 1955, which grew into a trusted retail chain. Building on this entrepreneurial spirit, Joe Sunner founded Matchworkers International in 1999, becoming the first company to recruit hospitality staff from India to the UK with official work permits, filling critical workforce gaps. In 2023, the company expanded its innovative recruitment services to Greece, opening offices in Thessaloniki and Athens to facilitate seasonal hospitality staffing. Matchworkers International leads with unique solutions like Europe’s first “Hire Now, Pay Later” model—all driven by a mission to connect honest workers with dependable employers across borders and generations.
