Consequently, local residents expressed dissatisfaction, leading to the retailer being viewed unfavorably by the community. In response, Marx Layne & Company launched a public awareness initiative to highlight the necessity of developing this key intersection in Livonia and the economic advantages and shopping accessibility it could offer to the area. This educational effort was carried out through various channels, including a four-page, full-color newsletter that was distributed as an insert in the Livonia Observer, distributed at public meetings, and included as a bag stuffer at the existing Livonia store. Additionally, Marx Layne created an eight-minute video featuring interviews with local business owners and elected officials from nearby areas where the retailer operates. This video was presented at a Livonia Planning Commission meeting and broadcast simultaneously on local cable access throughout the city.
