Universal Mobile AR Social Media Campaign

To promote Halloween Horror Nights—Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood's renowned scare event—Lucid Reality Labs created an AR activation for social media that allowed fans to engage with the horror experience prior to entering the park. Activated by QR codes in streaming advertisements, the experience tapped into viewers' tendency to use multiple screens simultaneously. Scanning the code transformed their surroundings into a spooky graveyard, complete with emerging tombstones and an eerie atmosphere. Central to the activation was La Muerte, a chilling figure drawn from Latin American folklore, who was presented as the dark spirit of Halloween Horror Nights. As the AR scene escalated, La Muerte made her presence known, instilling the unsettling feeling that she was pursuing the user in their own environment. This encounter created an immersive experience through layered spatial audio, augmented reality visuals, and haptic feedback, resulting in a vivid and suspenseful moment. In selfie mode, users could see La Muerte looming behind them and were encouraged to capture and share this moment, transforming fans into storytellers and enhancing the experience on social media. “The guest journey can begin before arrival. H&M Home AR Web Mobile App

H&M

The primary aim of the project was to create a promotional mobile Web AR App to launch an H&M Home store in Paris, France. The immersive experience was designed to draw in as many visitors as possible through augmented reality features, including an AR lottery and gift draws. H&M, in partnership with the RISE creative agency, intended for participants to experience multiple stages of AR engagement. To facilitate this, a two-meter-tall physical mock-up of a key was installed in various strategic locations throughout Paris, particularly near subway entrances, serving as starting points for the AR journey to guide customers to the new H&M Home store. The AR experience was well-received, engaging store visitors in an enjoyable, immersive manner. Upon scanning a QR code on the H&M key mock-up, users could access the mobile Web App through their browser. The app utilized world tracking provided by 8th Wall to guide users to the store's location. At the start of the experience, a digital AR representation of the key that matched the physical mock-up appeared, directing users to the H&M store. Once they reached the store, users were prompted to scan another tracking image, which activated an AR animation and opened a door to a virtual room. Inside this room, users were surrounded by a 360-degree virtual space featuring H&M merchandise. Upon entering the virtual room, the lottery algorithm launched automatically after 10 seconds, resulting in a pop-up notification indicating whether the user won the lottery. If the user did not win, they were encouraged to return the next day to try again.

Utilizing the 8th Wall platform, it merged interactive storytelling with real-time product visualization, enabling users to explore the product and sign up for the launch event directly through the experience. The solution included features for registration, analytics, and shareable media to enhance visibility across social media and e-commerce platforms, transforming a pre-launch moment into an immersive digital experience that fused innovation, brand storytelling, and quantifiable audience engagement.
