New Hire Training & Onboarding (Sales)
A digital marketing agency hired me to review and enhance their training and onboarding process for new hires. Each year, they recruit 100-150 junior salespeople, but unfortunately, they were losing half of these new employees within their first year, which resulted in an annual loss of approximately $1.1 million due to recruiting, onboarding, training, and missed opportunities. My role involved working with their training team to evaluate the existing materials for new hire training. In addition to assessing the training content, I listened to some recorded sales calls and interviewed representatives at various stages of their eight-week onboarding process. After completing my evaluation, I shared my insights regarding the content, structure, and delivery with the leadership team, which led to my recommendations being accepted. Subsequently, I developed a tailored curriculum based on the identified gaps, restructured their eight-week program, and conducted a two-day train-the-trainer session for their training team and floor managers. I also provided support during the rollout of the first cohort. The floor managers were impressed with the training, as it marked the first instance of formal training they had received, and the feedback from the initial group of trainees was positive. We are now collaborating on additional initiatives within the sales department.
