Emblem

Emblem approached us to develop their website ahead of an upcoming launch just a few weeks away. We conducted a brand identity audit to ensure it was suitable for application on the website, and we chose to present our findings during our initial meeting. Based on the audit, we collectively decided to broaden the project’s scope to include a refresh of their brand, ensuring the launch would be impactful, consistent, and conveyed a narrative that extended beyond the €75 million. Credible > Friendly During our first discussion, the founders of Emblem expressed their desire to portray a friendly and approachable image. We explored this through mood-board exercises and rough sketches, and thanks to quick feedback loops, we concluded that "accessible" and "credible" were more fitting descriptors, as they aim to be a loyal partner for founders and a trusted guide for their significant VC fund. Refresh specifics We retained the existing wordmark and created a complementary icon to enhance brand recognition. Both elements work well together and independently. The wordmark is most effective at larger sizes, so we ensured it had adequate space to stand out, while the icon serves its purpose effectively at smaller scales. We refined the color palette, opting for a bold pink-red combination to offset an otherwise formal and credible design. We selected new typography to establish a more distinctive and appealing character that differentiates it from competitors. The result An impactful launch day saw LinkedIn turn pink with striking brand assets shared among founders, investors, and others who recounted their personal experiences with Emblem's founders. With a solid brand foundation for future growth, we are excited about our ongoing partnership with Emblem.

Maybe Tomorrow

Maybe Tomorrow is a design agency founded by Mikkel and Philip, which, as they shared in our initial meeting, specializes in facilitating design sprints, prototyping, developing product strategies, creating experiences, and producing products. What distinguishes them, as we noted from their clients' feedback, is the environment they foster for innovative, cross-disciplinary collaboration. One client mentioned he wished he could have warned them about the challenges of the week, yet his expression showed the joy of a successful week characterized by genuine teamwork. Maybe Tomorrow simplifies complex issues into manageable questions by pondering straightforward inquiries. They assist teams in finding answers and guide them in launching services or products by asking, "maybe tomorrow we could...?" After sharing stories about their impact with Mikkel, Philip, and Joachim, a realization struck. We collectively decided to shift our focus from methodology to impact and their future goals. The name they had chosen before contacting us—Maybe Tomorrow—was now perfectly fitting. In terms of branding, one of our initial ideas involved a question mark, which we set aside for a time but eventually revisited, finding a subtle way to weave it into Maybe Tomorrow's logo. We also experimented with a color palette across various mockups for screens and printed materials. In Mikkel's words: "This has been such a fun and enlightening process. IS IT A BIRD is a prominent consulting agency in Denmark that specializes in human-centered insights and research for global brands such as Nike, Whirlpool, and Danske Bank. Over the past decade, the agency's identity has developed in an organic manner, but recently they faced challenges in effectively and cohesively communicating their identity, services, and purpose. Their leadership team reached out to us for assistance in redefining their brand narrative to address this issue. Our process included two main steps: 1. **Questionnaire and Alignment Workshop** IS IT A BIRD boasts a diverse collective of experts across various disciplines, including strategy, design, and anthropology. A crucial aspect of the project was aligning these differing and sometimes conflicting perspectives to achieve a shared understanding and consistent language regarding IIAB's work and value. Collaborating with the project lead, we created a pre-workshop questionnaire to gather preliminary thoughts and insights. We analyzed and organized these responses before the workshop, where the focus was on harmonizing the various viewpoints to establish a unified direction for the updated brand narrative. 2. **Prototyping Different Scenarios** We quickly recognized that much of the brand development depended on several uncertainties regarding the agency's long-term commercial direction. As a result, we decided to utilize this project as an opportunity to test various scenarios for discussion, which would facilitate meaningful conversations among the leadership team about their focus areas. **The Outcome** “Dani and Nicky are definitely the people you want on your team to develop your brand.
