Modern tech stacks solving societal problems
Flexibility as a strategy is a prevalent theme among technology leaders, particularly during these challenging times. The focus now is on composable architectures, a newer approach from vendors that provides an alternative to traditional monolithic systems. This is the purpose of the MACH Alliance, where MACH represents Microservices, APIs, Cloud, and Headless. LAB Group shares a strong enthusiasm for this technology, as it harnesses creativity and technology for positive impact. The hunger crisis in the UK is a pressing issue that should not exist, yet it does. A significant obstacle is distribution. Local food banks, community organizations, and notable initiatives like The Trussell Trust and Give Food are making commendable efforts, but it is insufficient. What’s needed is a flexible and scalable solution to connect these resources efficiently and swiftly. This is why the LAB team eagerly embraced the opportunity to participate in a hackathon organized by the MACH Alliance, utilizing their MACH expertise and commitment to creative and impactful tech to address these challenges effectively at scale. They dedicated their time to develop the Food Bank Connector, a web-based solution employing MACH technology to provide real-time actionable information on food bank supplies and to integrate various existing tools to connect food banks with the support they require.
