Google is concluding its Currents platform as of July 5, 2023, and is focusing efforts on enhancing Google Chat to foster stronger team connections and community engagement within enterprises. Recognizing the evolving needs of hybrid work, Google has introduced features like announcements with admin controls, integration of Google Groups for membership management, in-line threading for focused discussions, and expanded community discovery through an extensive directory supporting up to 8,000 members. Additionally, Google Chat integrates with key third-party apps such as Jira and Salesforce, enabling efficient workflows. These enhancements aim to replace siloed communication with a unified, modern experience, helping organizations build authentic connections and thrive in today's collaborative landscape.
