The current project involves developing and testing a Blood Management and Bedside Transfusion solution for markets in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. This system integrates software with hardware elements, enhancing blood bank information systems. The IronRooster team is tasked with creating and testing the software across multiple platforms, including Android, iOS, and Windows mobile, while ensuring compatibility with various hardware devices such as refrigerators and kiosks that facilitate healthcare workflows. Established 30 years ago in Trento, GPI has steadily expanded in both scale and expertise. The company has numerous branches across Italy and internationally, operating as Hemasoft America Corp. The initiative entailed a complete overhaul of an existing fat client healthcare solution to transition it to a modern web-based architecture. The primary objective was to replicate the functionalities of the successful previous version by utilizing advanced web technologies. Collaborating closely with the Client and their users, we assessed all features of the older version and identified those that remained valuable and beneficial. We eliminated redundant functionalities while introducing new ones and refining existing features to align with evolving practices in the healthcare sector. We assisted the Client in dividing the scope of the rework into multiple projects/releases to enhance speed to market and reduce the efforts needed to obtain regulatory approval. Throughout these releases, we played a key role in determining project scope and managing the complete lifecycle of these projects. We crafted an architecture based on the latest technologies, keeping user requirements and performance criteria in mind. We implemented and tested all functionalities while also creating necessary project and product documentation. Additionally, we analyzed potential hazards associated with the solution and designed features to mitigate those risks. At the conclusion of the development process, we participated in and supported the beta testing at the customer’s site, preparing all documentation required for regulatory approval. We are pleased to report that, despite the project's complexity, we achieved regulatory clearance in under 90 days after submission for review.
