**THE ISSUE: MANY AMERICANS ARE UNAWARE OF THE TRUCK PARKING SHORTAGE**
The lack of parking spaces for truck drivers—a persistent challenge in the trucking sector for many years—has recently reached a critical point. Industry associations estimate there are 40,000 fewer parking spots than trucks on the road. As driver advocacy groups push for new legislation in Washington, D.C., CloudTrucks, a prominent technology and service provider for trucking entrepreneurs, conducted research to assess public knowledge about the parking shortage and general attitudes towards resolving the crisis.
**THE APPROACH: NEW RESEARCH ON PUBLIC OPINIONS AND SOLUTIONS**
CloudTrucks teamed up with Idea Grove to carry out the 2023 Truck Parking Shortage Survey, gathering insights from 1,000 adults regarding their perceptions of truck drivers, their awareness of the parking shortage, and possible solutions to the issue. Following this, Idea Grove initiated a comprehensive media outreach campaign, sharing a press release and promoting the survey report on the CloudTrucks website. The media strategy included targeted pitches to national news outlets, policy reporters, human interest stories, and broadcast media to position CloudTrucks as an authority on the subject. Additionally, various trade media in the trucking, supply chain, and logistics sectors were approached.
**THE OUTCOMES: INCREASED BRAND AWARENESS AND RECOGNITION OF AN INDUSTRY ISSUE**
The campaign produced remarkable results, generating ongoing media coverage and valuable backlinks that improved CloudTrucks' brand presence and perception. Three months post-launch, the campaign achieved: 34 placements with a combined audience of 7.11 million, 43 inbound links to the CloudTrucks survey report (with 13 links from high-authority sites), and a total of 4,021 events as per GA4 data.
