Community Life GmbH

Community Life is an insurance startup that specializes in online risk assessment, contract execution, and the issuance of life or health insurance certificates. The objective was to create a web application that could be seamlessly integrated into the websites of various insurance companies. Users are required to follow several steps within the application: 1. Log in to their account with their credentials; 2. Select their profession to calculate the insurance premium; 3. Provide answers to health-related questions; 4. Upload necessary documents for the certificate issuance; 5. Obtain an insurance certificate after completing the contract and making an online payment. This process eliminates the need for users to travel to an office, allowing them to quickly and easily obtain certificates from home. The project faced a tight deadline, requiring a minimum viable product (MVP) to be completed before presenting to the funder, HDI, the largest insurance company in Germany. The Community Life team contributed by providing logical frameworks, question scripts, and design elements prior to the project’s initiation. Our responsibilities included: - leading the project and ensuring effective communication between developer teams; - developing the software product, involving several backend and frontend developers due to time constraints; - setting up and testing the application’s functionality and its interaction with external services; - delivering the MVP before the funder’s presentation. The presentation went well, and the service operates smoothly, generating insurance certificates with payment options. The startup’s founder at HDI expressed satisfaction. The next step involves deploying the functional project on the insurance company’s website.

Expopartner - Digital Exhibition Coordination

Expopartner is an exhibition coordinator catering to pharmaceutical companies and medical equipment manufacturers. Their goal was to upgrade their web application to enable clients to submit online participation applications (briefs) for exhibitions, detailing booth numbers, handouts, required spaces, and other specifics. These briefs would be handled by Expopartner specialists who would calculate costs and provide quotes, streamlining the exhibition preparation process and eliminating the need for complex phone approvals. However, early discussions uncovered several significant issues: - Expopartner's existing application was outdated and needed modernization. - They had engaged another software company to manage and enhance the old version. - The updated application was malfunctioning and failed to meet Expopartner's requirements. - Insufficient documentation led to confusion in the program code across different versions. - There was a firm deadline for the project's completion. As a result, we took over the project, ensuring it aligned with Expopartner’s business goals and timeline. We reviewed and documented the software code from various versions to facilitate future maintenance. We also integrated the application with Expopartner’s internal ERP system to streamline proposal submissions. The upgraded web application was successfully launched on schedule, allowing clients like Takeda Pharmaceutical to easily create briefs and receive proposals. The previous software company will continue to provide support for the updated product. Plans are in place to further enhance the web application, making it adaptable for all clients, with each company receiving a personalized account that reflects their unique corporate branding through custom colors and logos.

Schwäbische Werkzeugmaschinen is the largest global manufacturer of CNC machines for metalworking. The company aimed to create an internal web application to enhance communication between managers and storekeepers. Previously, employees had to physically go to the storage area to complete request orders, which was inefficient and time-consuming. The new application, named SW Shop, allows employees to easily select items online and submit requests. After this process, managers receive real-time notifications, and employees can check stock levels to avoid wasting time on unavailable items. The client relied on two primary products for their internal operations: an ERP system for inventory management and a CRM system for notifications. During initial discussions, it became evident that their objective was to integrate both systems for improved automation, with SW Shop acting as a pilot project for this initiative. Additionally, acquiring extra ERP licenses for all employees was expensive, and the existing ERP system was not optimized for mobile use, posing challenges for storekeepers. The mobile version of the SW Shop was intended to resolve these issues. To minimize costs, we chose not to create a separate mobile application but instead employed Progressive Web Application technology, which allows the website to adjust automatically to mobile devices. This approach ensured that employees received prompt notifications regarding order executions via the CRM system. The MS SQL database was used to upload stock information from the ERP system, enabling the application to feature a catalog. Stock levels were also displayed, allowing managers to check availability. The application was successfully rolled out within six months, as intended by the client. Now, managers can quickly place orders, storekeepers receive requests on their mobile devices, and the client has avoided the expense of additional ERP licenses.
