Yaramis Ramos, known as Yara, is a Cuban-born designer and muralist based in Columbus, Nebraska, whose art fuses strategy with storytelling. Raised in Cuba, where color was a fundamental worldview, Yara’s creativity became her language amid the constraints of dictatorship. Her formal training at Cuba's Higher Education Institute of Design (ISDI) deeply influences her approach, blending artistic expression with purposeful design. For Yara, murals represent spaces of equality—open canvases welcoming all, transcending backgrounds. She cherishes the interactive, community-driven experience of public murals, inspiring creativity and granting permission to create. With over two decades of design expertise, bilingual proficiency, and a record of teaching and branding work, Yara’s mission is to evoke freedom and joy through her murals and design projects.
