Empowering Women: Rebuilding the Poker Power App
Poker Power faced the challenge of needing a centralized platform to connect users and facilitate virtual classes focused on gameplay, education, and community interaction. The app was required to be inclusive, reliable, and free of bugs at launch. Even though the parent company had 25 years of experience, the Poker Power team was inexperienced in app development and initially worked with an unreliable development team that frequently missed deadlines and created numerous issues due to overpromising and underdelivering.
To address this, we conducted an audit of their poker app's back-end after being approached by Erin and AJ, and quickly pinpointed several issues. We then collaborated with the Poker Power team to completely reconstruct the app, opting to release features incrementally rather than a fully polished final product. Each update was made available to a select group of “Super Users,” who provided candid feedback and helped identify bugs. This iterative feedback loop proved vital for ongoing enhancements based on user suggestions. By actively engaging Poker Power's community throughout the development process, we created an app that fulfilled their specific requirements and expectations.
As a result, we inspired, informed, and supported a community of 30,000 women, producing an intuitive, accessible, and impactful app. We enabled women to gain access to training and support that could transform their lives, educating and engaging users in line with Poker Power's mission. The transition from relying on third-party apps to their own platform allowed them complete control over their community. We established a solid foundation for future monetization strategies and successfully launched the app in 40 countries, empowering tens of thousands of women to alter their personal and professional journeys, all under the motto, “Be Fearless. Bet On Yourself.”
