Carlisle Construction Materials

Carlisle Construction Materials (CCM), a prominent player in the roofing sector, collaborated with GDC to overhaul their two major websites, Carlisle SynTec and Versico Roofing Systems, transitioning them from an outdated platform to the Sitecore Digital Experience Platform. GDC, a trusted vendor and Sitecore Silver Partner, was the perfect IT solutions provider to assist CCM in modernizing their websites and improving user experiences. CCM encountered multiple issues with their former platform, such as a complicated user interface, ineffective search functionality, and high development costs for new features. Furthermore, their content management and marketing teams were overly dependent on the development team to carry out marketing activities, resulting in inefficiencies. CCM sought a solution to tackle these issues, streamline processes, enhance marketing tools, and boost scalability within the organization. GDC collaborated closely with CCM to design, develop, and implement a multi-site solution on the Sitecore Digital Experience Platform by utilizing Sitecore Helix, Microsoft Azure Cloud Services, and Digizuite DAM asset management, all integrated with CCM’s internal systems. This new solution offered CCM a versatile platform that can adapt to the changing requirements of its users. The outcomes were significant. Following the implementation, CCM's development team could shift their focus to new projects and initiatives rather than routine maintenance, resulting in an estimated savings of $50,000 in development costs for the year. Oshkosh Corporation

Oshkosh Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of mission-critical equipment, collaborated with GDC to develop a new Oshkosh Supplier Network (OSN) website. The objective was to improve the presentation of existing supplier information and to draw in new suppliers. With a target launch in early 2023, GDC was tasked with designing and constructing a comprehensive website by the fourth quarter of 2022, allowing Oshkosh ample time to prepare the necessary content. The revamped OSN site aimed to increase usability for both content creators and end-users, adhere to top SEO standards, and ensure compatibility with Oshkosh's existing systems. GDC worked closely with Oshkosh to implement a solution utilizing the Sitecore Digital Experience Platform 10.1.0, incorporating tools such as Digizuite Digital Asset Manager, Apache Solr Server, and Google Tag Manager. The project was intended to meet current needs while also being scalable for future upgrades, facilitating easy updates and customization. Key functionalities included reusable components and mobile responsiveness to improve user experience across devices. The design was consistent with Oshkosh’s existing website, but introduced enhancements like customizable headers and footers. GDC aimed to provide content editors with flexibility by implementing features such as the Supplier Standards Guide, which offers a searchable and sortable resource for key documents, enabling content creators to efficiently manage categories and update information with minimal further development required. To ensure the project was completed on time, GDC split responsibilities between front-end and back-end developers and used tools like Fractal to enhance collaboration. This strategy allowed for the efficient building and deployment of Sitecore-specific components, leading to continuous testing and refinement. Ultimately, the project was a success, with the new Oshkosh Supplier Network website launching as planned, providing suppliers better access to information and fostering new business collaborations.

GDC Integrates AI for Automated Metadata Tagging

CCM required an effective solution to organize a large collection of assets and extract essential metadata from various document types, including PDFs. The existing manual process for metadata extraction was inefficient, labor-intensive, and prone to errors. Moreover, the built-in AI tool in Sitecore Content Hub had limitations when it came to processing PDFs, highlighting the need for a stronger solution. GDC IT Solutions utilized AI and Machine Learning (ML) to develop an automated metadata tagging system for CCM, executing the project in three main phases. The first phase focused on data collection and training, where a diverse dataset of documents from Content Hub was compiled to train a custom AI model. By employing advanced machine learning techniques and Natural Language Processing (NLP), GDC’s model learned to identify and extract metadata from different document formats. In the second phase, GDC refined the AI model to effectively manage the various documents CCM utilized. Through multiple iterations, the model enhanced its accuracy for automating metadata extraction. In the final phase, GDC incorporated the model into Sitecore Content Hub, utilizing its REST API for the automatic processing of documents. This seamless integration permitted effortless metadata tagging across thousands of assets, optimizing the entire workflow. The implementation brought significant advantages to CCM, as the AI model significantly cut down the time and effort required to review and tag over 5,000 assets, automating a previously manual and laborious task. Savings were realized through decreased labor costs, and the model increased accuracy, reducing the chances of errors in data extraction. Additionally, the custom AI model enabled CCM to optimize its resources, allowing staff to concentrate on more strategic projects.
