CHALLENGES: The existing agency had managed the account for two years and had deep knowledge of the products and Toolstation's operations. Toolstation faced fierce competition from companies like Screwfix, Wickes, and DIY.com across all product lines. SOLUTION: During our initial audit, we pinpointed five key areas for quick impact and outlined longer-term strategies for revenue growth and spending efficiency. Our immediate focus included: Google Ads automation and smart bidding improvements, audience segmentation, and customizing ad copy. SOLUTION: We executed a comprehensive keyword landscape analysis, reviewing over 6 million unique keywords and assessing more than 5 million competitor URLs. The insights gained from this analysis provided Boohoo with a clear and cost-effective pathway to enhance organic traffic growth, positioning them for ongoing content development success.

Bringing Zombie SKUs To Life for Secret Sales

The automated bidding system also caused budgets to be withdrawn from many products that became inactive or "zombified," meaning they were not being bid on and did not appear in any advertisements. The challenge was to identify these zombified SKUs—unique product identifiers—and feature them in ads directed at relevant customers to generate additional revenue for our client. **The Objective:** Our aim was to bring these 'Zombie SKUs' back to life and achieve a 10% increase in overall revenue through Google Ads shopping. **The Solution:** To tackle this issue, we employed BigQuery machine learning to develop a deep neural network capable of predicting a product's Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) for any 30-day period, with an accuracy of within £100. Our model demonstrated reliable predictions of the next month’s revenue for individual products, including variations by color and size, with an accuracy of approximately +/- £100. This approach allowed us to identify underperforming products, assess the degree of their underperformance, and address them appropriately. We established three distinct shopping campaigns, each with tailored bidding strategies based on the predicted potential of the products they featured: - **High Potential:** Aggressive bidding with minimal ROAS restrictions for high-potential products. - **Mid Potential:** Detailed campaign structures and ad optimizations for products with mid-tier potential. - **Low Potential:** Strict ROAS controls for products with low anticipated performance.
