UX Audit Case Study
Sonos is a prominent company specializing in sound experiences, dedicated to developing products and activities that enhance listening for people around the world. The Sonos Client Relationship Management (CRM) program, particularly its email campaigns, plays a crucial role in driving repeat visits and increasing revenue for Sonos.com by keeping customers engaged and addressing the business's communication needs. However, a rise in the volume of emails sent has led to decreasing click rates. This, along with an expanded product line and a brand refresh, highlighted the necessity to explore personalization opportunities and ensure that communications align with customer expectations. By conducting a hybrid analysis of user experience and heuristics on in-app and email communications, we identified quick conversion improvements. We evaluated the CRM email templates and in-app experience using a UX checklist focused on content organization, visual appeal, and messaging. Our checklist incorporated general UX principles, e-commerce-specific heuristics, and accessibility standards. We concentrated on the visual components of the email templates, providing actionable suggestions for enhancements. In our presentation, we included a detailed analysis of the email flow for two different scenarios, pinpointing new ways to engage with new customers more effectively. As a result, the client is utilizing the deliverables we created, which include key design guidelines, to refine their email marketing strategy and redesign their email templates. Our efforts aided Sonos in establishing a clear long-term approach to enhance the experience of their subscribers when interacting with email and in-app templates.
