Maine Savings Amphitheater

Waterfront Concerts + Live Nation Entertainment

In the fall of 2017, Ervin Architecture partnered with Waterfront Concerts and dedicated the following six years to designing and constructing five distinct phases, culminating in the creation of the Maine Savings Amphitheater—a premier live entertainment venue in Bangor, Maine, that continues to delight music enthusiasts today. Nestled on a hillside between Main Street and the Penobscot River, which historically served as a major transport route for northern Maine's timber, the Maine Savings Amphitheater is an impressive sight. It boasts a height of over forty feet from the stage to the back of the lawn, accommodating nearly 17,000 seats, making it the largest venue (both indoors and outdoors) north of Boston. The amphitheater has had a profound local impact, transforming Bangor’s identity from a boom-and-bust lumber town to one experiencing significant revitalization. Unlike the Bangor Mall and Eastern Maine Medical Center, which have traditionally driven the local economy, the Maine Savings Amphitheater has provided the community with world-class entertainment and a renewed cultural identity, reestablishing Bangor’s prominence in the region.
